Rob Rattray

Rob has worked within the fields of Education Liaison, Student Recruitment and Widening Participation since 1999. During this time he managed activity within two Higher Education Institutions, the University of East London and Leeds Trinity University College. Both institutions suffered from a low and/or negative profile within schools and colleges prior to his arrival, but due to the inventiveness, quality, humour and passion of his activities, Rob had managed to turn both institutions into ‘go to’ providers of education liaison within the regions they were based. Activities with schools and colleges increased three-fold within two years of his arrival.

This enabled both universities to become institutions that teachers, parents and students valued alike.

Rob has specialised in mentoring and supporting careers advisors, parents, carers and teachers in the application process through his experience of being an admissions lead at both institutions, providing first-hand experience of the decision-making process. This year, he has performed as the keynote speaker for Wakefield’s STEM Conference for all Wakefield schools.

Rob has served as; UK Vice-Chair and London and Anglia Chair for the Higher Education Liaison Officer’s Association (HELOA), a member of the Area Partnership Committee for Aimhigher West Yorkshire, a member of the Admissions forum for GuildHE, a member of the Advisory Board for his local SureStart Centre and has been a Governor at two secondary schools.
